Outside body

The JTC’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee, on behalf of residents and others, scrutinises and challenges matters within the remit of the JTC.  It also investigates matters of significant importance to residents within the respective areas of the Combined Authorities areas with a view to influencing decisions made by matters within the remit of the JTC.

The JTC must appoint at least 2 Members from each of the Constituent Authorities of the Combined Authority and the North East Combined Authority.

The Members of the Committee taken as a whole should reflect, so far as reasonably practicable, the balance of political parties for the time being prevailing among the Members of the Constituent Authorities of the Combined Authority and the North East Combined Authority when taken together.
